Artist Statement

Norman Gabitzsch is a fine art photographer based in Houston, Texas. He holds a PhD in Physics from Rice University and completed postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory before pursuing a career in Earth imaging and global oil exploration. His scientific background strongly informs his photographic practice, particularly his approach to structure, contrast, and visual interpretation.
Working primarily in black-and-white and infrared, Gabitzsch creates images that reveal the underlying geometry and atmosphere of both natural and built environments. His work explores landscapes, trees, and architectural forms, transforming familiar scenes into contemplative studies of light, texture, and scale. Many of his landscape photographs are created during extended stays in the Slovenian Alps and along the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
