Artist Statement

For me, art transcends the limits of language and speaks directly to the transformative, connected, universal world of feeling. Creation requires a deep and clear connection to the limitless world of imagination. It’s a highway I travel often-through profound dreams, visualizations, and a few interesting sessions of hypnosis. I
have always felt a special attraction to the language of dream symbolism, Jungian archetypes, and storytelling through the universal symbols of the natural world, since it is a language we all share.
My oil paintings, which range from a few inches to several feet in size, live in the realm of representational realism and surrealism. This is because I find it more entertaining and challenging to create from real life. In fact, I consider making art a form of worship.
